I can't believe it took me so long to get some counselling. I had a very stressful job, and saw more than one traumatic event, but the culture there was that you just got on with it - emotional problems were for the weak willed!
When my 20 year old marriage came to an end as well, and my children disowned me, I really thought I was going mad! I was desperate for help so I would have tried anything. Luckily before anything worse occurred I ended up at NG and began counselling.
Slowly, as I began to build a rapport with my counsellor, I became more willing to talk and engage openly with the process. We spoke of the present situation, as well as events in the distant past.
The sessions gave me new ways of viewing my life. The support and understanding has been one of the most beneficial experiences of my life. The counsellor helped me through the toughest challenge I have had to face with listening and helping through a very difficult and trying time. It helped provide me with an understanding of life as a whole.
